 | In the first half of the year, BALTA received 24,466 insurance claim applications. In this period, more than 23 thousand of claims have been settled, claims paid in 23,598 cases, BALTA’S clients received 8,059 million lats. Compared to the first half of last year, in the first six months of this year BALTA received by 4 thousand claim applications more. Also the number of settled and paid claims has considerably grown, respectively by 3,796 and 2 210 cases. Compared to the first half of 2004, also the amount of BALTA’S claims paid has grown by almost two million lats. This was largely influenced by the severe storm touching Latvia at the beginning of the year, which brought big damages both to the property of clients and motor vehicles.
The largest number of claim applications and claims paid in the 1st half of the year was in CASCO insurance, namely, BALTA received from its clients 7,592 applications, the amount reported for disbursement was 2.49 million lats. It is followed by property insurance with 4475 claim applications for the total amount 4.22 million lats. Whereas, in health insurance BALTA received 17.7 thousand applications for 1.047 million lats, but in compulsory motor third party liability insurance (motor TPL) in the 1st half of the year the company received 1,659 claim applications for the total amount 1.21 million lats.
According to the data compiled by the Financial and Capital Market Commission, BALTA is the largest claim payer in the non-life insurance market and in five months of this year has paid 24.9% of all insurance claims paid in the non-life insurance market. | |
